OPTESS Workshop – A&E Department Aberdeen Royal Infirmary –

The OPTESS Consortium organized a workshop to present the results of the project so far and to discuss the potential gains of utilising telemedicine to organisations and stakeholders working in the field of medical assistance to offshore sites and remote locations at a European level.
The workshop took place from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm on Wednesday 21 June 2006 at the Department of Accident and Emergency of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, UK, with the following agenda:
2:00 pm Opening and Welcome (Dr J. Ferguson, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary)
2:15 pm Telemedicine in the oil and gas sector (Dr J. Ferguson, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary)
2:30 pm The OPTESS Project (Mr F. Bagnoli, D’Appolonia S.p.A)
2:45 pm Demo of the OPTESS System
3:15 pm The role of the end user in the validation phase (Ms L. Morrison, Total UK E&P)
3:30 pm Roundtable: Current situation in the oil and gas medical assistance and perspectives offered by telemedicine
5:30 pm Conclusions
Workshop was attended by some important stakeholders such as Total UK E&P, Shell UK, Talisman Energy UK and Abermed Limited, and it was documented by Grampian Television.
