The OPTESS telemedicine project implemented on board Total UK Alwyn North platform won the Energy Institute Award as the best safety project in the Oil and Gas field in 2006
Each year the EI Awards celebrate innovation and the achievement of excellence that is demonstrated on a daily basis by people working across the energy industry. As the professional body for the industry, publishing industry codes and guidance and accrediting best practice, it is fitting that one of the Energy Institute's key annual event recognises the achievements of individuals that stretch the boundaries of best practice through innovation and a passionate commitment to their work.
The judging criteria for the safety category weree:
- Best safety initiative or innovation
- Management commitment
- Effective communication
- Good prospects for wider application
- Sustainable benefit
- Demonstrable difference from before to after application
The OPTESS project was considered the best 2006 project according to all of these criteria.
The prize has been given in a Gal Dinner at the Savoy Hotel on November 23rd, chaired by Lord Sebastian Coe, President of the 2012 Londo Olympics Committee.
